Interoperability platform Wormhole is commencing its token airdrop at 7:30 a.m. ET today, providing users with the opportunity to claim Wormhole tokens.
Wormhole Airdrop: Details of Token Distribution and Eligibility Criteria
The airdrop, distributing a total of 678,823,000 tokens, or 6.78% of the total supply, is based on a snapshot from February 6. Approximately 400,000 wallets are eligible for participation, encompassing users from Wormhole's Portal bridge and ecosystem apps across 30 different blockchains.
Of the airdrop allocation, 117 million tokens are reserved for specific groups, including Wormhole Discord members, Monad community members, Pyth stakers, and holders of NFT collections like Bad Kids, DeGods, Mad Lads, and y00ts, who are also required to be registered on the project's Discord platform.
Wormhole Token to Launch on Binance and Solana DEX Post-Airdrop, Pre-Launch Trading Hits $1.5
Following the completion of airdrop claims, Wormhole tokens are expected to be listed on both centralized and decentralized exchanges. Binance will initiate trading at 8 p.m. ET with trading pairs against bitcoin and stablecoins. Solana-based decentralized exchanges will offer the token for swaps immediately after the airdrop claims commence.
Ahead of its official listing, the Wormhole token is already trading on pre-launch markets such as HyperLiquid and Aevo, reaching a price of over $1.5, giving it a fully diluted market capitalization of $15 billion.
Previous Security Incidents
Wormhole faced a significant security breach last year, resulting in a loss of almost $325 million to hackers. In June, Jump Crypto, a Chicago-based crypto arm of Jump Trading, managed to retrieve $140 million worth of tokens from the hackers.
Wormhole: Revolutionizing Blockchain Communication with Zero-Knowledge Proofs and AMD Chip Integration
Wormhole serves as a communication protocol facilitating seamless token and data transfer across different blockchains. Integrating zero-knowledge proofs (ZKPs) enhances security during transfers. The platform also aims to address scaling concerns through the use of AMD chips.
Additionally, Wormhole is developing Gateway, an application-specific blockchain within the Cosmos ecosystem. The project concluded a successful funding round last year, raising $225 million and achieving a valuation of $2.5 billion.
