Why did we invest in CAMP?

Camp is building the future for on-chain consumers.

Imagine a modular L2 blockchain that redefines user engagement in entertainment, media, music, and gaming. The key innovation is the “digital backpack” - a personalized, off-chain identity layer that contains data from social and streaming platforms. This gives dapps built on Camp access to unparalleled engagement data, helping them develop better monetization strategies, reduce user acquisition costs, and improve user retention.

The creator economy is larger than ever. According to research estimates, the creator economy has exceeded $100 billion and has doubled from a few years ago. There are now more than 50 million content creators around the world, including musicians, video creators, streamers, etc.

But creators don’t know who their fans are.

Event companies like Ticketmaster and LiveNation don’t share attendance data with musicians and other performers. Data is fragmented between major platforms like YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and Spotify.

Camp solves this problem with a two-pronged approach. First, building an off-chain identity layer or “digital backpack” that consolidates once-fragmented fan data into an easy-to-use interface. Second, creating on-chain solutions based on gamification of fan engagement on their modular L2 designed for consumer applications. This enables deeper relationships between content creators and their fans.

We met James and Nirav when they were pursuing a similar vision in the NFT space. After seeing their progress, their deep understanding of consumer cryptocurrencies, and their ability to scale their vision, there was no doubt in our minds that this team could build a superior product. Nirav’s experience in the creator economy combined with James’ experience operating in the Web2 space gives Camp a deep understanding of its target industry and an advantage in designing a strong product.
